Aluminum alloy 3003 is an AL-Mn alloy, it is the most widely used anti-rust aluminum. It is usually supplied in H1x tempers, where the product is strain hardened only.The strength of this alloy is not high and it can not be strengthened by heat treatment.Therefore, cold working method is used to improve its mechanical properties.

Heat Treatment

Alloy 3003 aluminum sheet can be significantly hardened by cold work (eg: by cold rolling) and various “H” tempers are produced-most commonly H12 and H14–also including the soft annealed Temper O condition. Alloy 3003 is usually supplied in H1x tempers, where the product is strain hardened only. To soften alloy 3003, it can be annealed by heating to 415°C, hold until uniform temperature then cool; the rate of cooling is not important.

Treadplate

Treadplate in alloy 3003 is typically used in decorative architectural applications, due to its bright reflective finish. It is usually produced in a "1-bar" "2-bars" "5-bars" or "propeller" tread pattern.

As all is known, 3003 alloy also called rust-proof aluminum sheet, its strength is a little higher than common aluminum alloy patterned sheet, but its corrosion resistance and strength cannot reach 5-series aluminum alloy patterned sheet, therefore, 3003 alloy patterned sheet is used in truck boxes, cold storage floor, and other places where the anti-rust function is not strictly required.
